Rehtaeh Parsons, was a vibrant, kind-hearted, and compassionate teenage girl with hopes and dreams for the future. But, on April 7th, 2013, she desperately took her own life after enduring a year and a half of unimaginable pain and anguish. Her heart-breaking story began with her sexual assault by four teenage boys. The assault was photographed by on-lookers and spread via texting by classmates at her Dartmouth, Nova Scotia high school. She was bullied, shamed, and harassed by students and members of her community. The school authorities and the criminal justice system all failed to protect Rehtaeh Parsons.
